Toen Castelli in 2006 de eerste aero-trui voor wegwedstrijden ontwikkelde, dacht iedereen dat ze gek waren, zelfs sommige profrenners. In die tijd was aero alleen voor TT's. Prestatiekleding betekende vochtregulatie. En je kon de Tour de France winnen in een wijde trui die niet veel meer was dan een polyester T-shirt met zakken op de rug. Zelfs de aerodynamische adviseurs verwachtten weinig of geen voordelen en daarom noemden ze de trui Split Second. Uiteindelijk waren de voordelen aanzienlijk en brachten ze een revolutie teweeg in het uiterlijk van het profpeloton.
Castelli heeft dit shirt nu voor de zevende keer opnieuw ontworpen en heeft nog meer verbeteringen gevonden. Het shirt heeft nog steeds veel profijt van de CFD-analyse van de luchtstroom in de rijpositie voor de plaatsing van stoffen en naden, samen met feedback van profrenners, en is zowel snel als comfortabel voor lange dagen in het zadel. Met de Aero Kid Jersey kunnen jonge aspirant-renners nu genieten van dezelfde voordelen als hun wielerhelden, in hetzelfde shirt dat hun helden in het peloton dragen.
